 Requiem For A GA16DNE

Today, my faithful GA16DNE died. It had been sputtering and consuming oil. A sign of an old engine. But it seemed it has also had been leaking coolant. I can only guess that this resulted in an overheat, which resulted in oil thickening and not circulating, which resulted in its head gasket breaking, which eventually [...]

 Two Movies, Life, and Reality

As the supposed best man, I had to give a speech at Jem and Grace’s wedding. I was clueless at what to do and I asked Alex, who had been best man before, for help. He said that Dom, another friend, told him to watch Four Weddings And A Funeral and do what Hugh Grant [...]

 Car Air Con Blues

Last Saturday, I was just at NLEX on the way to Zambales when I noticed the air con working intermittently. From my limited previous experience, it can be two things: air con system problem or engine cooling system problem. I checked the temperature gauge and I saw to my alarm that it’s above normal. So [...]

2008 July 20 Crystal Beach Resort, San Narciso, Zambales

After several attempts at marshalling people for weekend surfing, Chei and I finally decided to just push through with or without the others :P And right after Jem and Grace’s wedding, push through we did. As usual, we went to Crystal Beach, rented boards, and enlisted Bobot to assist us. We surfed for only about [...]

 Dark Knight

This has got to be the greatest Batman or even superhero movie to date. Gotham City is still a crime-ridden city. The mob controls the streets as the police, led by an incorruptible councilman and police chief, fight a never ending struggle against them. Vigilantes dressed as The Batman roam the street to take matters [...]

Oyster Sauce

Asparagus
Olive Oil

Sugar
Scallops
Salt
Ground Pepper
Olive Oil
Butter
Chopped Parsley
Lemon
In pot, boil 2 cups of water. Add chicken cube (and thyme if dry). Let it boil. Add couscous (and thyme if fresh). Remove from heat, cover lid, and [...]

 Vieux Chalet

When you go up Antipolo for dinner, people usually think Padi’s Point or Cloud 9 (not the surfing destination). But there’s actually an alternative that, at least for me, is better: Vieux Chalet. I only learned about Vieux Chalet from Wil who learned about it from OAP. So why do I like it? It’s got [...]

 Volvo S60

Yesterday, I was tailing my classmate’s Volvo S60 on the way to his residence where we are celebrating our French instructor’s birthday. Looking at the rear end, the side I will see most, I couldn’t help but admire the way Volvo was able to make the boring sedan look so sleek and sporty. Much more [...]
