 GMABooster

I first learned about GMABooster from YugaTech. It’s a utility for speeding up the Intel GMA 950 graphics chip, which happens to be the graphics chip of my Asus EEE PCs (as well as most other netbooks). But unfortunately, the first time I downloaded it, it doesn’t seem to launch at all. I tried installing [...]

 First Ultrasound

We had our first ultrasound today. It was long in waiting but finally the time came. Chei went into the ultrasound room where the OB did the procedure. After a while, she called me in and also showed me. It is a teensy weensy baby with a tiny beating heart. It’s wonderful!

My Sinigang Is Not The Same Without You

I tried cooking sinigang again tonight. Chei wasn’t around so I had to do it on my own. I followed the instructions from our sinigang recipe.  But somehow it just didn’t come out right. Worse, I overcooked it and everything turned mushy.

 Benchmade Pika II

Since I lost my Gerber EZ-Out, I’ve been looking for a suitable replacement. I looked far and wide but haven’t been able to find one until recently: The Benchmade Pika II. It reminds me of the Benchmade AFCK which is a knife I’ve always liked. But there’s more to it than that.
Let’s begin with the [...]

 CDR-King HDD Enclosure

CDR-King sure has come a long way.  Starting with selling tacky and cheap CDRs they have become the purveyor of the tacky and cheap electronic gadgets. This is not to say the stuff they sell are useless. On the contrary, they’re quite usable once you get past the awful looks.
Case in point, I needed an [...]

 64-Bit

64-bit processor technology has been with us for quite some time. The first 64-bit processor, the MIPS R4000, came out in 1991. Back then they were expensive and relagated to server duty. Intel’s first 64-bit processor, the Itanium, came out in 2001 followed by AMD’s Opteron/AMD64 in 2003 starting the move to mainstream computing.
Now, the [...]

 Post-Holy Week Traffic Blues

It seems everybody who went on vacation last Holy Week decided that everyone would be going back on Monday and so should return today. End-result: Horrific Traffic. I was on the road for over three hours!!! Crazy.

2009 April 11 El Pinoy, Anilao, Batangas

Finally went diving again after a long dry spell. I had no planned activities for the Holy Week so I invited Vinz for a dive and off we– Vinz, his girlfriend, Chei and I– went. We went to this resort owned by Mike, a friend of Vinz’s girlfriend. It was a small, non-commercialized dive [...]

 NetTop Without The Net

The government has this initiative called the “NetTop ng Bayan” which is an effort to increase the affordability of PCs. NetTops are a type of relatively low-power desktop computers designed for performing basic tasks such as surfing the Internet, accessing web-based applications and rich internet applications, document processing and audio/video playback etc. Like netbooks, you [...]

 Disabling fring Auto Start

This morning, my phone’s battery ran out so, on the way to work, I charged it with my car charger. As soon as it accumulated a sufficient charge, I turned it on and continued merrily on my way.
Then when I reached the parking lot, I noticed that fring was on! I checked the data connection [...]
